The mayor highlights at the inauguration that many families in Benidorm already know "the benefits of these techniques in the development of children from zero to six years old"

Palau d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm hosts today and tomorrow the 1st AquaBabies Stimulation Convention aimed at becoming a unique platform to explore the latest trends and findings in the field of aquatic stimulation.

The event brings together experts and professionals from nine countries such as the USA, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Portugal and Spain, among others, committed to the well-being and optimal development of the little ones through water and aims to mark a before and after in the evolution of early aquatic stimulation, something promising for future generations.

The convention, inaugurated by Mayor Toni Pérez, was born to maintain continuity over time, turning Benidorm into the national focus of meeting experts in education and stimulation with babies, in the stage of 0 to 6 years. The Councilor for Sports, Javier Jordá, the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángela Zaragozí, also attended the inauguration; and the councillor for Presidency, Juan Díaz.

José Luis León Gascón, an expert in Early Care and Aquatic Education and member of the Ibero-American Association of Special Aquatic Education and Hydrotherapy (AIDEA), pointed out that the development of the convention will be composed “of blocks of theoretical training in the press room and practices in the glass of the educational pool.” Juan Antonio Moreno Murcia was at the inauguration, a representative from the UMH of Elche and president of AIDEA, who welcomed all attendees. Likewise, Dr Luciane de Paula, a member of the scientific organizing committee, explained the operation of the convention with the development of the planned talks, the subsequent questions and the practical activities that will be carried out in the pool.

During the two days, a hundred professionals dedicated to aquatic education and stimulation for babies and children up to six years of age will meet. These experts will share their knowledge about the importance of stimulation in the aquatic environment and its positive impacts on the comprehensive development of babies and infants, addressing everything from age-adapted swimming techniques to specialized pedagogical approaches.

Toni Pérez, for his part, also welcomed the organizers and attendees of the convention and recalled that in Benidorm for 15 years now “we are committed to providing the city's families with access to this therapeutic resource with the implementation progress of the early care and stimulation service, in which a team of professionals treats about 150 children from zero to six years old with developmental disorders or who are at risk of suffering from them.”

The mayor also detailed that this care network was completed ten years ago "with the introduction of aquatic stimulation, hand in hand with the Center for Early and Aquatic Stimulation (CETA) which is based in this Palau d'Esports, in which "Many families in Benidorm have verified the benefits of these techniques that seek to enhance the skills and abilities of minors from an early age and act on possible disorders that may influence their development."

It is, he said, “about improving the quality of life of our youngest neighbours,” a task in which “we must all get involved.” Pérez has assured that at the convention “ interesting things will be talked about and I am sure that the expectations of all attendees will be met.”
