Corpus Christi 2023

The streets of Benidorm once again dressed in 'murta' and flowers for another year in the Corpus Christi procession. Religious act in which all the children who have taken their first communion this spring participate.

Thousands of people crowded along the route that started around 8:00 p.m. from the parish church of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna, would go down Calle Mayor to La Palmera and return to the starting point along Paseo de la Carretera, an hour later.

Behind the children, the 'Blessed Sacrament' under a canopy carried by the priest and the angel, a role played by the girl Paula Fuentes Amor. Behind, the local authorities, led by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles . Finally, the Benidorm Musical Union performed the marches 'Triunfal' and 'Pescador de hombres'.

The procession made three stops, at La Palmera, in Paseo de la Carretera, and at Plaza de Sant Jaume. At these points, from early in the morning, the members of the ACR 'La Barqueta' and other faithful worked designing and creating tapestries of flowers and 'murta'. In them, with the arrival of communicants and companions and the aroma of smoke from the censer, the moment of prayer was announced while the faithful threw rose petals.

At the end of the tour, the children and their families returned to the temple where they were congratulated by the parish priest for their good behavior.
