The mayor informs that in the next few days the bases will be published to take advantage of this aid linked to alleviating the social crisis derived from the coronavirus

The City Council releases the first million euros for direct social aid

El Ayuntamiento libera el primer millón de euros destinado a ayudas sociales directas

Benidorm City Council has released the first million euros to allocate it to "direct individual aid" to alleviate "the effects of the social crisis resulting from the coronavirus health crisis and affecting families and residents in Benidorm." The mayor, Toni Pérez, has indicated that this million euros is part of "the first phase of grants" planned and announced by the City Council for an amount of 4 million euros and whose application and concession will be carried out according to "certain bases that are being processed and that will be announced in the coming days ”.

As explained in a telematic press conference, a decree has been signed today to allocate "20% of the 2019 net surplus, the maximum amount allowed by law" for social grants to meet needs related to COVID-19, and that in the case of Benidorm translates it into 1.4 million euros. Of these, one million euros has already been made available to the Family and Childhood area to attend to "the grant that is being processed since the start of the state of alarm", and the remaining 424,621.37 euros will also be released shortly.

To this amount it is planned to add another 2.6 million euros at the end of the month for aid to the commercial sector, the self-employed, SMEs and companies, thus reaching the global amount of 4 million euros.

In addition to the decree to allocate 20% of the surplus to aids linked to COVID-19, the mayor also today signed a budget amendment to allocate 1.8 million euros to cancel the Adjustment Plan.
