Benidorm recognizes the Consorcio de Aguas of La Marina Baixa on the World Water Day
The vice president of the Consorci and Water Cycle councilman of Benidorm City Council, Pepe Marcet, expressed his satisfaction with the decision: "the management of the Consorci has been exemplary and has responded to a region with lack of water, allowing tourism and urban development in an area with scarce and irregular water availability.
"In our region water issues are far from struggles and confrontations. Water has been politically used by some people as an electoral weapon, but Benidorm and the Marina Baixa is not in that war. We work to ensure good water supply, thanks to the generosity and solidarity of our towns" , he noted.
The consortium was launched 37 years ago and is composed of the municipalities of Benidorm, Alfas del Pi, Altea, Finestrat, Polop, La Nucia, Villajoyosa, the Provincial Council of Alicante and the Hydrographic Confederation of Júcar, a body under the General Directorate of Water Resources of the Ministry of Public Works.
