The twenty-ninth edition of the Costa Blanca Cup returns, one more year, from July 2 to 8, to Benidorm and the Marina Baixa. The municipal building of 'El Torrejó' has hosted today the presentation of an event that brings together thousands of players, coaches, and the family members who accompany them summer after summer.

The acting mayor, Ana Pellicer, the Councilor for Sports, José Javier Jordá, and the executive director of the organizing company, Tour Sport, Fernando Brotons, have presented the 2023 edition in which teams from 23 countries will participate, second only to 2013, the year in which the Costa Blanca Cup celebrated its first 20 years. A good part of the councilors of the new municipal corporation and the regional deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate, were also present at the event.

Pellicer showed the City Council's support for the competition and congratulated the Costa Blanca Cup on its trajectory, which has allowed it to "appear on sports calendars in many countries". The acting mayor also valued the "economic injection" in the tourism sector, highlighting the presence of thousands of "healthy young" athletes accompanied by their families who "know Benidorm" and also its "important complementary sports offer".

Fernando Brotons has detailed that for this edition 19 soccer fields and 7 futsal courts will be used in which more than 4,000 athletes from 287 teams will compete. 674 games will be played in 16 men's categories and seven women's. Likewise, nine other venues will be added to Benidorm: Benissa, Calpe, Altea, l'Alfàs del Pi, La Nucia, Polop, Finestrat, Vila Joiosa, and Callosa d'en Sarrià.

Regarding the economic impact, Brotons has specified that the athletes will stay "in 24 hotel establishments", which will mean "24,000 direct overnight stays" which will mean "865,000 euros of hotel billing". In addition, there will be 700 bus transfers and 1,500 tickets to the parks in the area will be contracted.

Inclusive Tournament

Fernando Brotons announced, as a novelty, in this edition of the Costa Blanca Cup Inclusive, in which teams with players with functional diversity compete, the participation of two wheelchair football teams: Valencia CF and the University of Valencia. "Sport -he specified- called A-Ball" which in English sounds like 'Able' "which means capable". A discipline that was already present "as an exhibition" in the 2016 edition and that "now aspires to become a Paralympic".

All the information on the Costa Blanca Cup, results, evaluations, etc., can be consulted through the free application for iOs and Android developed by Tour Sport with the purpose of "contributing, within our possibilities, to the elimination of paper". , Fernando Brotons finished.
