This morning, Paseo de Levante in Benidorm hosted the thirteenth edition of San Silvestre 'Christmas Run' in Benidorm. A five km route in which around 300 athletes and just under a hundred children in the children's events have taken the start

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, was in charge of kicking off the test after 10.30 in the morning. The Councilor for Sports, Javier Jordá, and the first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, participated in the race along with the rest of the athletes and delivered the awards for the different categories.

San Silvestre de Benidorm Race is a sporting event that is more recreational than competitive. Many runners cover the distance disguised, although preferably related to Christmas costumes. The organization awards the best costume.

Local athletes won the best positions. Juanan Fernández from Benidorm was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 15 minutes and 21 seconds; followed by the runners from his Benidorm Athletics Club, Miguel Martínez (15:33), María Olcina, who came in third position (16:01), before the third placed in the men's category, Vicent Solbes (16:02), from Gladiators Benidorm.

In women, after Olcina, Patricia Medina came in second position (19:51), independent; and in third, Celia de Diego (20:29), from Gladiators.

At the end of the adult race, the little ones started the race, completing a shorter route, adapted to children, along Paseo de Poniente.
