The councillor explains that the indoor plants will be operational again when the management contract is awarded

Muñoz: “The Poniente car park still has more than 200 free spaces on the roof, which is enough to meet current demand”

12 September 2024
Francis Muñoz concejal de Movilidad en Benidorm

The Councillor for Mobility of Benidorm City Council, Francis Muñoz, has reported that “once July and August, the months of greatest tourist influx, have ended, the Poniente public car park still has more than 200 free spaces located on the roof of the building in operation, which are sufficient to meet the current parking demand”. Muñoz has thus responded to a note in which the PSOE assured that the car park was closed.

After denying this circumstance, the councillor has recalled that “the car park roof has always been operational; a roof that is connected to the first line of Poniente through a lift that operates 24 hours a day”. However, given the arrival of the high season, “in July the City Council also made available the more than 150 spaces distributed on the interior floors of the building from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., also free of charge, to increase the parking options for residents, visitors and tourists in the area.”

During July and August, the facilities were attended by municipal staff, confirming that “only four days have the spaces located inside the building been fully occupied, with spaces always available on the roof.” Given these capacities “we know that the more than 200 spaces located on the roof are sufficient to cover the demand for this month and subsequent months.”

Muñoz added that “the spaces inside the building will be operational again as soon as the management contract for the entire complex is awarded, which will follow the same model already implemented in the l’Aigüera car park.” At this point, he indicated that the contracting file is still being processed, so as soon as it is resolved, the new management model will be applied.
