Benidorm celebrates the first weekend of the XLIII Nautical Sailing Christmas
The races had to be suspended in December because of the storm
This weekend has been held in the waters of the bay of Benidorm the first test of the forty-third edition of the Nautical Sailing Christmas organized by the Yacht Club with the collaboration of the department of Sports and the Sailing Federation of the Comunitat Valenciana. The test should have been disputed the weekend of 17 and 18 December but had to be suspended because of the storm that hit the coast. The award ceremony was attended by the councilor for Beaches, Lorenzo Martínez, accompanied by the mayor of Social Welfare, Angela Llorca, and the councilors Arturo Cabrillo and Josep Bigorra. Martínez thanked the Club Náutico in Benidorm for organizing the event "which has been developed with great sportiness and without any incident" and in which many kids, representing clubs throughout the Region of Valencia "have been able to enjoy" the waters of Benidorm "in the company of their parents". The councilman of beaches recalled that the second test of these races will take place next weekend, in the higher categories. Between yesterday and today the children's tests, between 8 and 13 years, have been played in the Optimist 'B' and Optimist 'C' classes in the two race fields arranged by the organization. In class 'B', Simón Codoñer (Real Club Náutico de Valencia), was the winner, the second place was for Carlos Espí (Real Club Náutico de Valencia) and the third place was for Gabriel D. González (Real Club Nautico de Dénia ). In class 'C', the victory was taken by Miguel Contreras (Real Club Náutico de Valencia), followed by Claudia Antón (Real Club Nautico de Torrevieja) and by Irene Pérez (Club Náutico El Campello).
