Young people of ‘Summer 2020’ visit the home of all the people from Benidorm

13 July 2020
Los jóvenes de ‘Verano 2020’ visitan la casa de todos los benidormenses

The young participants in 'Summer 2020' initiative, organized by the Department of Youth, took a visit this morning to Benidorm City Council where they were received at the Mayor's office by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the area councilor , Jaime Jesús Pérez.

Previously, the kids have toured the municipal offices where they have seen how public servants work and they have been explained how a city like Benidorm is managed. They have also visited the Assembly Hall, which can house, in a normal situation, more than 200 people; and the Plenary Hall, with the magnificent tapestries that adorn it, donated to the city by Pere Maria Orts i Bosch.

‘Summer 2020’ offers young people daily activities between 9:00 and 14:30. Workshops, cultural itineraries, emotional intelligence activities related to the environment, with information and communication technologies, sports, games, hiking, cooking, German language, board games and role-playing games or cinema forums are scheduled. Given the current situation generated by the Covid-19, the groups of kids have been reduced to 10 for each monitor.

The activity lasts fortnightly and costs only 25 euros, the rest is subsidized by the City Council. In this regard, Jaime Jesús Pérez recalled that 'Summer 2020' aims to "facilitate family and work-life balance for families", while allowing young people to "enjoy the city after the long lock down" due to Covid -19. Pérez also specified that the quota of participants has been 100% covered for the fortnight in July and there are "very few places" for those in August.
