490 students of 10 different nationalities have participated in the summer school of the club

The West Beach Volley closes the season with 5 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze medals

05 September 2018
El Voley Playa Poniente cierra la temporada con 5 medallas de oro, 9 de plata y 13 de bronce

Benidorm Voley Club has presented this morning the balance of the season just ended. The Councilor for Sports, Arturo Cabrillo, has exhibited the report with the president of the entity, Raúl Mesa; the technician; Rafa Madaleno; and two of its stars: Patricia Madaleno, runner-up of Spain Sub 19 (sporting couple of the now absent Henar Martínez), and Julián López, third place in the Spanish Cadet Championship.

In total, this year Beach Volleyball Benidorm Club has won 5 gold medals, 9 silver and 13 bronze "between regional and national championships," said Raúl Mesa who added that these successes "would be impossible" without the support of the City Council and sponsors.

Arturo Cabrillo recalled that we are before a local sports club "nonprofit", whose pretensions are "to make known the sport of Beach Volleyball from the base in an incomparable setting as are the beaches of our city." Following the balance, the mayor has announced that a total of 490 students from 10 different nationalities have participated in the summer school organized by the club and that "the work well done by coaches and monitors has been matched with the classification of seven his teams in different championships in Spain ".

A traditional sport

Raúl Mesa pointed out that beach volleyball "is a sport with a long-standing tradition in Benidorm" and that it has a guaranteed future thanks to the support of athletes, family members and public and private institutions. Mesa described as milestone the start-up by the City Council, at the beginning of the summer, of a multi-sports area with six beach volleyball courts in Poniente. "Benidorm - he said - can provide a great service to children and adults, but also to professional athletes", and even more so after the growth experienced by this sport in recent years because it attracts "quality tourism to our beaches" .
