The VII Trophy 'Mare de Déu del Sofratge' is celebrated with all the safety and prevention measures against COVID-19

The V SUMA League Regatta takes places this Sunday in Benidorm's bay

08 April 2021
La V Regata de Lliga SUMA arriba este diumenge a la Badia de Benidorm...

Next Sunday, April 11, the V Regatta of the SUMA League,  (VII Mare de Déu del Sofratge Trophy), will be held in the waters of Benidorm's bay.

The event is organized by Benidorm Nautical Club and the Valencian Community Rowing Federation with the collaboration of Benidorm City Council. The competition will take place from 9.00 am.

The Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, has presented the test this morning together with the president of the Benidorm Yacht Club, Jaime Samper. Cebreros has highlighted the importance of continuing to celebrate this event: "already consolidated in the nautical calendar each year and that this time fans will be able to follow throughout the morning from El Castell de Benidorm to avoid crowds, maintaining safety distances".

More than 60 teams with a total of 540 athletes from 12 clubs throughout the Valencian Community, in the cadet, youth, senior and veteran categories (male and female), will meet to compete in the waters of Benidorm's bay to achieve the long-awaited podium in Llaut Mediterráneo modality.

Club Náutico Benidorm participates with four teams: Veterans, female and male and Senior male and female.

The distances will be 700 meters for the cadets and veterans categories, with one tack, and 1,400 meters for the youth and senior categories, with 3 tacks.

The day is expected to be sunny and with southwest winds of about 8 knots of intensity, which will make it a difficult test, due to the state of the sea, full of emotion.

The organization has highlighted that all security and prevention measures will be strictly applied against Covid-19; enabling disinfection points at the entrances and exits, and the use of masks is mandatory. A strict protocol will be followed for the delivery of trophies, assigning a delivery time for each category with an interpersonal separation of 1.5 meters.
