The mayor of Benidorm has received this morning an ONCE delegation made up of Estela Medina Peláez, director of the ONCE Zone of Alicante, Iván Prieto Álvaro, director of the Benidorm Agency and Sergio Barrera Lloret, vice president of the Territorial Council of the ONCE in the Valencian Community.

The ONCE Social Group has offered its collaboration to citizens of Benidorm. With Toni Pérez Pérez they have discussed the different ways of collaboration in favor of blind people or with other disabilities in aspects such as accessibility in public and street transport, acoustic traffic lights for blind people, the regulation of the use of scooters and the adaptation of the pavement to the needs of people with disabilities.

Accessibility to education and leisure has also been addressed, so that people with disabilities can normally enjoy their attendance at concerts, exhibitions, as well as inclusive education.

Likewise, during the meeting, the problems that people with disabilities have in order to obtain a job have been analyzed and the ONCE Social Group has indicated that it makes available to the municipalities the resources of Fundación ONCE and the Insert Employment program to include in the municipality's employment exchange for people with disabilities, as well as the importance of promoting responsible public procurement, in favor of the Special Employment Centers of social initiative, such as Ilunion, the companies of the ONCE Social Group.

During this meeting, the ONCE officials have shown Benidorm's concern about the illegal game, which causes a serious problem not only to the Organization, but also to the state coffers, due to the losses caused to the Public Treasury and, in some cases, the abuse of persons with disabilities and others at risk of exclusion that sell illegal lotteries, and that threaten the safety of consumers.

The mayor for his part has offered all his willingness to collaborate and help as much as possible in the realization of the different activities that are carried out in his locality so that the ONCE Social Group is visible.
