The contest is internationalized with a new competitive section of European short films

Registration is open for the 5th Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, which takes place from April 9 to 18

11 January 2021
Oberta la inscripció per al 5é Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, que se celebra del 9 al 18 d'abril...

The 5th edition of Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has already started with the opening of the registration to participate in the different sections of the contest. The Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, and the director of the contest, Beatriz Hernández, have reported today that this new edition of the Skyline will be held from April 9 to 18 and will feature “important news, since the festival is internationalized by creating a new official competition section aimed at European short films ”. But the official European section is not the only one that is incorporated into this edition, "since we are also launching one dedicated to productions on sustainability, a current theme and in turn closely linked to the essence of the city."

Thus, Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has seven competing sections: European, national fiction, national animation, national documentary and national in Valencian, sustainability and students. Other non-competitive sections will be added to the competition sections that are being outlined and will be presented shortly; as well as the script contest and the ‘Short Pitch’, intended for projects under development.

The councillor of Culture has pointed out that "year after year the Skyline is growing in sections, awards, parallel activities and, obviously, in repercussion within the national circuit of short film festivals". Pérez has once again highlighted “the adaptability of this event that, in 2020, showed its versatility by adapting to the circumstances arising from the pandemic and opting for a 100% online edition going hand in hand with Filmin, one of the main platforms of 'streaming' cinema ”.

Hernández has detailed that "the registration period to participate in the competitive sections is open until February 7 through the platforms www.festhome.com, www.movibeta.com and www.filmfreeaway.com". Short films produced after March 2019, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes, may participate. The complete rules can be consulted on the contest website: www.skylinefest.es.

In the same way, the script contest registration has also been opened, to which each author may submit a maximum of three. The theme will be free, whether they are original scripts or literary adaptations, with a maximum of 20 pages and as long as they have not been shot before the start of the festival. Registration can be done until March 1 at the email info@skylinefest.es.

The Skyline director recalled that "in this 5th edition we maintain one of our main hallmarks, the pay per selection, so that all 25 projects screened within the competitive section will receive 200 euros".

Last edition, more than 300 short films were received, a total of 25 being selected for the national official section.
