Trees encroached on the road, impaired electrical and telephone wiring, and endangered vehicles and people

The municipal technical services respond to the proposals of the neighbors in 24 hours

22 August 2020
Los servicios técnicos municipales atienden las propuestas de los vecinos en 24 horas

One of the consequences of this Thursday's work meeting between the Association of Neighbors of l’Horta, Neighborhood Council and City Council, represented by the councilors of Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer; and Street Cleaning, José Ramón González de Zárate, has been the rapid action of the municipal services after one of the neighborhood proposals.

In one of the bends of the road to l'Assagador de l'Almafrà, the branches of the pines of the ravine invaded the road, endangering pedestrians and vehicles, and damaging the light and telephone wiring that serves the neighborhood.

The councilors moved to the critical point and, after verifying the situation, they decided to act. It should be noted that the pines grow in an area that is not a municipal competence, but the Canal Baix de l’Algar. However, delaying the intervention could entail a greater damage than a supposed conflict of competences.

After inspection by municipal technicians and Parques y Jardines concessionaire, Actua, it was decided to intervene on Friday. Shortly after noon, the area was cleared of the branches that were causing the problem.

The Councilor for Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer, pointed out that "collaboration between neighbors and the administration is an important tool to solve the problems that affect our neighborhoods, as has been demonstrated today." The councillor has taken the opportunity to remind the residents of Colonia Madrid that, next Thursday, at 10.00 in the morning and in the Municipal Warehouse (next to the TRAM station), a public meeting has been called and neighbors who wish to attend it can do so and bring their proposals "together, improve our Benidorm", he stressed.
