De Zárate announces that the future government will fully implement the modification of the Mobility Ordinance in the coming months

Mobility creates in Els Tolls about 250 parking spaces for residents

14 June 2019
Movilidad crea en Els Tolls cerca de 250 plazas de aparcamiento para residentes

The area of exclusive parking for residents continues to expand and from July 1 comes to Els Tolls neighborhood with about 250 seats, as reported today the acting councilman of Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate. The squares that will be converted into exclusive parking for registered residents integrated into the 'Resident Zone' are located on Francia Avenue, on Grecia Street section between Bélgica and Finlandia, and on the streets of Noruega, Holanda, Suiza, Dinamarca and Islandia.

De Zárate has indicated that, as in the implementation already done in other neighborhoods, next to the 'Residents' Zone' free parking streets are maintained; and he recalled that in Els Tolls there are "three park and ride parking spaces: in Italia street, next to the bus station, and in the Park of Leisure and Recreation".

The mayor explained that it had been detected that the implantation of the 'Resident Zone' in other neighborhoods of the city had diverted Els Tolls a significant part of the vehicles of non-registered persons, who instead of using the deterrent parkings opted for park in the streets of the white zone, making it difficult for neighbors to park near their homes. "We want to protect our neighbors, that residents can park near their homes and that people who are not registered can do so in the white zone, blue zone or parking deterrents," he added.

De Zárate pointed out that "with these new places the 'Residents' Zone' already exceeds 3,200 parking lots in different parts of the city: Colonia Madrid, Centro, La Cala, Rincón de Loix and the Ensanche de Levante." He also recalled that the sticker to park in 'Residents' Zone' can be processed in the Mobility Department -located on the third floor of City Hall- from 09.00 to 13.00 hours. To access this card you only have to be registered in Benidorm, be the owner of a small van or van and pay the vehicle tax in the city. They can also park in 'Residents' Zone' in the same conditions the vehicles of the companies that have their fiscal domicile in Benidorm and that pay in the city the circulation tax (IVTM) of the same.

Modification ordinance number 1 of Mobility

In the same press conference, the council has announced that the next government team will take this summer to full "the modification of the number 1 ordinance of Mobility" to regulate various aspects. Among them, the use and control of the loading and unloading, the cancellation of the fines of the blue zone immediately and previous payment in the parking meters, or the possibility that the drivers not registered can park in 'Resident Zone' paying a fee, as it happens in many Spanish cities.

De Zárate recalled that the current government team tried "up to six plenums" to take forward this modification of the ordinance, which on all occasions met with the refusal of the opposition, despite having received "the approval of the Mobility Advisory Council ".

The councillor has reported that "this proposal will be updated" adapting "to new circumstances arising or detected as a result of the implementation of the 'Residents' Area", and has ensured that "this modification will be positive" .
