The need to meet certain deadlines to access grants and the public interest are preceded by the ordinance

The emblematic works in Benidorm will not be paralyzed during the summer

28 June 2019
Las obras emblemáticas en Benidorm no se paralizarán durante el verano

Benidorm City Council has published a decree authorizing the continuation during the summer of some of the works in progress. The city has a municipal ordinance that prevents these works from being carried out on public roads, with some exceptions. The "exceptionality" to the rule has been justified in this case "for the public interest" and because its delay "would cause harm to citizens," said Councilman Works, José Ramón González de Zárate.

González de Zarate recalled that many works have pre-established deadlines for completion and it depends "to access grants." In this chapter the performances in the Avenida de l'Atmella de Mar "with a pending grant of 450,000 euros that we have to finish before August", or those of Universal Accessibility and Sustainability, of one million euros "that should be finalized before November 15 ". Likewise. In this position are the works in El Castell, El Tossal de La Cala or the Cyclist Ring.

The person in charge of Works has made it clear that they will be able to continue the programmed works in the schools that the City Council executes, or those of the municipal concessionary companies for service needs. "If it breaks," said González de Zárate, "some sewage pipes or drinking water, they have permission to run in the middle of summer, logical." The City Council will also allow the continuation of certain private actions "although time reductions have been applied in the morning, afternoon and evening".

Now, "if a neighbor of Benidorm," the councilor pointed out, "has a complaint about a work, he/she can contact the City Council." The municipal technicians will determine if it has to be paralyzed or not "because you have to comply with the ordinance". González de Zárate has apologized for the works in execution in summer but has assured that "it will be beneficial for the immediate future of the city."

In addition to the aforementioned, in summer work will continue on the ramp of Via Emilio Ortuño and La Cruz, on Avenida del Mediterráneo; and in the urbanization of urban land in Poniente, at the height of Armada Española and Poseidón Hotel.
