One hundred folk craft stalls, shows every 20 minutes and products from the land

Elche Park moves to the Middle Ages with the third edition of 'Benidorm Medieval'

03 May 2018
El Parque de Elche se traslada a la Edad Media con la tercera edición del ‘Benidorm Medieval’

The third edition of the 'Benidorm Medieval' will be held from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 May at Elche Park. It is an initiative organized by the Independent Organization of Merchants of Benidorm and Province (AICO), with the collaboration of the City Council through the councils of Fiestas and Commerce.

The councilors of Fiestas y Comercio, Jesús Carrobles and Ana Pellicer; the president of AICO, Raúl Parra and the representative of the collaborating company, Legend, Luis Leal, presented this initiative at noon that coincides with the commemoration of the 693th anniversary of the Poblament Charter granted by Admiral Bernat de Sarrià.

The councillor of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, justified the coincidence of the celebration of the anniversary of the Charter of Poblament with the 'Medieval Benidorm' "which has become a provincial reference in recent years", because "they complement each other" . Between both "they give greater prominence", they demonstrate it "the great number of stalls, spectacles and, above all, with the people who visit them". Carrobles underlined the support of the municipal corporation to merchants "working hand in hand with the local business community" so that all the events that are organized "have a positive impact on the city".

Ana Pellicer highlighted the great success of the public last year of 'Medieval Benidorm'. She recalled some references in the written press that said it was full of people" and predicted an even greater success for the new edition because "what AICO touches always goes further". Association that "gives life and dynamises local commerce" because "it is always ready for whatever when sales can go down" as these dates are.

For his part, the president of AICO thanked the support of the councils of Fiestas y Comercio. He confirmed that there will be 100 the number of stalls with products from the land that will be installed in Elche Park, that there will be a schedule of specific activities for the little ones with games, and animations every 20 minutes. "The main objective of the association," said Parra, "is to generate an additional attraction in the city to attract that flow of people that trade needs in medium and low seasons." On the other hand Luís Leal advanced that the programming will be "quite complete". There will be music groups, circus shows, acrobats, actors, and animation companies so that anyone who visits 'Medieval Benidorm' will believe "that is in the middle of the film 'Conan the Barbarian'".
