The City Council approves the grants that vary based on the number of students and the members of the three Benidorm bands

Culture subsidizes music schools and students with 27,400 euros

16 July 2019
Cultura subvenciona a las escuelas de música y educandos con 27.400 euros

The Department of Culture, directed by Jaime Jesús Pérez, will subsidize 27,400 euros to music schools and students of the three musical entities of Benidorm. This subsidy is part of the line of aid convened for the fourth year to "support and promote the cultural and educational work carried out by the three musical entities of the city, training the future musicians of Benidorm".

Pérez explained that "exercise after exercise has been increasing the global subsidy granted through this line of aid, to reach this year 27,400 euros, 1,520 euros more than in 2018".

At this point, he recalled that "it is a Valuation Commission which is responsible for evaluating the proposal submitted by each entity, and the amount of the subsidy awarded to each is determined by objective criteria." Thus, "the volume of the staff of each band, the number of students and the annual computation of expenses related to these schools made by each entity the previous year" is taken into account.

Like the previous call, Unión Musical de Benidorm has obtained the maximum amount eligible per entity, 10,000 euros. La Nova Musical Society also repeats the amount, 9,750 euros; while the Societat Musical l'Illa will receive 7,650 euros compared to 6,130 in 2018.

Pérez stressed that with these aids, "the City Council recognizes the specific weight of the musical entities of the city and their important teaching, educational and cultural tasks", and has stressed that "the fact that each year the number has increased total aid granted evidence also that entities turn to the time to present their projects and proposals, because they see in these grants a support and a boost to their work.
