The City Council coordinates with neighborhood associations the disinfection of spaces in all districts

09 May 2020
El Ayuntamiento coordina con las asociaciones vecinales la desinfección de espacios en todos los barrios

The brigades have started in Armada Española and La Cala, and they move tomorrow to Colonia Madrid and on Monday to Ciudad Jardín-Saladar

Benidorm City Council is coordinating with the neighborhood associations the disinfection of spaces in all the neighborhoods of the city with the aim of "being more efficient and reaching all places where these tasks are required," according to the mayor, Toni Pérez. As he recalled, “Currently, through the Municipal Cleaning Service, we are operating daily in three lines: disinfection of public roads, affecting essential facilities such as health centers and access to supermarkets or pharmacies; disinfection of accesses and passageways of the homeowners associations; and disinfection of facades and terraces of shops and restaurants that are scheduled to open their doors in the next few days ”.

To date, more than a thousand buildings and nearly 250 establishments have been disinfected. However, "the existence of this service may not become known to all citizens and therefore we have considered it appropriate to rely on the neighborhood network to have greater reach and also to meet needs that perhaps we have not detected."

"Residents are the ones who know their neighborhoods the best, the areas with the most traffic and also which shops, bars or restaurants are going to return to activity, and thus guide us best when disinfecting these spaces," he pointed out. . In addition, through neighborhood associations you can collect requests for disinfection of homeowners communities or establishments that have been requested individually.

This coordinated work has already started today with the help of the Association of Neighbors of Poniente and Mont Benidorm. Tomorrow, Sunday, the cleaning brigades will travel to Colonia Madrid and on Monday to Ciudad Jardín-Saladar neighborhood. The planning of the rest of the zones will be outlined in the coming days through the Neighborhood Council.

The first vice president of the Neighborhood Council, Teresa Garrido, has stated that "with this initiative promoted by the City Council, it is intended to help return to normality." According to Garrido, “today most of La Cala's premises have been disinfected and in the next few days it will reach all the neighborhoods of Benidorm, giving continuity to this task and passing through all areas of the city once or twice a week "
