Visits will be made to all neighborhoods of Benidorm in which associations and neighborhood groups will participate

City Council and Neighborhood Council launch a campaign to promote participation

11 July 2019
Ayuntamiento y Consejo Vecinal lanzan una campaña para promocionar la participación

The departments of Citizen Service, Ana Pellicer, and Urban Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, together with the vice-president of the Neighborhood Council, Teresa Garrido, this morning have toured La Cala de Benidorm in the company of members of the two neighborhood associations of there , La Cala and Mont Benidorm. In the itinerary have also intervened representatives of municipal concessionary companies and City Council technicians.

The person in charge of Citizen SAervice has indicated that it is the "first route of a campaign" that the City will promote in collaboration with the Neighborhood Council "to know first-hand the needs and suggestions that associations and neighbors want to send us." To take the pulse of the city, "every Thursday," Pellicer said, "we will visit a different neighborhood and we will announce it in advance so that the neighbors can send us their suggestions."

In this first journey, the associations of La Cala have made suggestions and proposed specific actions for the area, especially in terms of street cleaning, accessibility and urban planning. The route has begun in Torre Morales on Villajoyosa Avenue, has continued through the area of  Hotel Bali, Plaza de las Tiendas and has ended at the access stairs to Paseo de Tamarindos.

The councilors have taken note of the proposals, which will be evaluated by the municipal technical departments. Ana Pellicer recalled that "since 2016 the Participatory Budgets have been presented and approved", which allocate a minimum of 5% of the Municipal Budget to actions proposed by the neighbors. With this campaign, the City Council also wants to inform neighborhood groups about "this tool" to "win in proximity and make neighborhood participation more effective".
