Benidorm recognizes the dedication of María Zaragoza Lloret to the city and social causes with the distinction Exemplary Neighbor 2018
Benidorm has recognized on Tuesday the dedication of María Zaragoza Lloret to Benidorm, her citizenship and social causes with the award of the 'Exemplary Neighbor Award 2018', which annually promotes the Neighborhood Council. The delivery of this distinction took place in the Plenary Hall of the City Council in an act chaired by the mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Mª Jesús Pinto; and the first and second vice presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Fernando Montes and Christian Corriani; and have also been attended, among others, members of the corporation, representatives of various social, cultural and business entities, responsible for the Security Forces and Corps, family members of the award-winning, previous editions, and neighbors.
The mayor assured that María Zaragoza Lloret "has always been exemplary throughout her life career" helping people", and has defined her as "a woman of deep convictions, courageous, committed and pioneer of many social movements of help those who need it the most "
Specifically, she has been a founding member of the Red Cross in Benidorm and, since its launch, she is a member of Cáritas Parroquial and the Cancer Association; as well as member of several brotherhoods, of the La Barqueta Cultural and Recreational Association and of the Neighborhood Association of the Old Town. Member of the corporation of the Mare de Déu del Sofratge, she has also been president of the Festes Majors Patronals and a precursor in different native and traditional festivals. In addition, she has been linked to the Scouts and was founder of the Popular Alliance party, being one of the two councilors of the first democratic legislature.
Pérez stated that the Exemplary Neighbor 2018 marks "her love for Benidorm", "the path of what many aspire to do" and "the horizon of what many yearn to achieve"; and stressed that María Zaragoza Lloret "has inculcated" in their families "the" values "of commitment and solidarity.
The mayor, who also referred to the profession of María Zaragoza Lloret and her career as an entrepreneur, stressed "the success" of the jury of this edition of the Exemplary Neighbor Award, which is endorsed in "the absolute full" that has registered this afternoon the Plenary Hall.
The award-winner, for her part, acknowledged that she was disturbed by the recognition and all the expressions of affection received; indicated that "it is an honor" and "a pride" to obtain this award; she thanked the Neighborhood Council for this initiative; and she advanced that it will continue to focus on solidarity causes. On these, she added, that "they have not meant a sacrifice, but a pleasure".
María Zaragoza Lloret reminded everyone that "in less than a month Festes Majors Patronals start and we will continue to make people".
She also intervened in the act, one of the grandchildren of the award-winning; and several pieces was played on the piano by Pamela Carolina Pérez Heredia, professor at the Municipal Conservatory of Music 'José Pérez Barceló'.
The jury of this edition of the Award, which has studied and evaluated the different candidates, has been composed of six members, including Antonio Gonzaga and Eusebi Chiner, Exemplary Neighbor in 2012 and 2017 respectively.
In addition to Antonio Gonzaga and Eusebi Chiner, in previous editions several people have been awarded with the Exemplary Neighbor Award to Francisco Fenoll, Francisco Alvado, Carmen Cerdá, Mª Rosa González and Juan José García - both posthumously - and Casimiro Vila.
