Benidorm invierte 400.000 euros en los centros educativos de cara al inicio del curso 2020/2021

Benidorm City Council invests around 400,000 euros in the development of the city's educational centers for the next start of the 2020/2021 school year, according to the data reported today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, who this morning has visited the facilities of the public schools Puig Campana and Els Tolls and the EIM Les Fontanelles to check the evolution of the latest works that are being carried out on public roads, favoring accessibility and mobility. A visit in which he was accompanied by the councilors of Education and Public Space, Maite Moreno and José Ramón González de Zárate.

Toni Pérez has indicated that “since face-to-face academic activity was suspended as a result of the Covid-19 health crisis, the City Council has been carrying out maintenance tasks in the educational centers of the city. These works have intensified during the summer with a view to the new school year, which has demanded an additional effort from the centers and the City Council to guarantee the adaptation of the facilities to the health and organizational protocols transferred in recent days by the Conselleria ”.

The mayor has remarked that, at the request of the centers themselves, the City Council has acted in all public schools and municipal nursery schools in Benidorm, as well as in the 'José Pérez Barceló' Municipal Conservatory of Music and Dance and in the municipal center of studies 'Carmen García Santos', where the UNED and the Official Language School have their headquarters ”. Specifically, and depending on the centers, they have carried out repairs, small painting operations, installation of shaded areas, and plumbing, carpentry and electrical work. In addition, elements have been supplied and installed to generate the safe circuits in the centers. All these actions have an estimated value of 150,000 euros.

In addition to the actions carried out directly through the Technical Services brigade, the mayor has highlighted “the investment that is being made in the Leonor Canalejas public school and that goes beyond the construction of the new multipurpose pavilion, as improvements to such works the City Council is carrying out works in the central building, for educational use only. According to the mayor, "the improvements addressed by the City Council and that will directly benefit the educational center amount to more than 660,000 euros, with works for an amount greater than 250,000 euros already being executed today."

Toni Pérez has detailed that "in parallel to the works of the new building under the Edificant program, two of the planned improvements have already been executed, amounting to 252,582'87 euros, which has allowed the complete renovation of all the bathrooms -Both students and teachers-, as well as the stairs, improving the accessibility of the center and adapting it to current regulations, and it is also planned to provide an elevator to the center ”. The rest of the improvements will be carried out throughout this year, "taking advantage of the school holidays to develop those of greater complexity so as not to affect the development of educational activity."
