Benidorm City Council has resolved more than 350 application files for municipal aid to support commerce, companies and freelancers of the city against the effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, has indicated that "this week the Local Government Board has approved the seventh batch of aid, which brings the number of cases resolved to 369 and the amount granted to date to 271,000 euros" .

The councillor recalled that “it is a Technical Commission, made up of technicians from different departments, which is in charge of studying and evaluating each of the files weekly to verify that they comply with the provisions of the bases and determine the amount that proceeds in case to be resolved favorably ”. Gómez has clarified that to date "slightly more than 80% of the requests have been resolved favorably" and that "most of the denied requests are due to the fact that the company or activity does not have its fiscal domicile in Benidorm but in another municipality , mainly from the region ”.

The amount of grants ranges between 500 and 1,000 euros depending on the condition that the state of alarm decree caused on the activity. Thus, the grant will amount to 1,000 euros for those who were affected by the closure of establishments; to 750 euros for those who saw their turnover reduced by at least 40% between March 14 and April 19 with respect to the average of the previous six months or the period of high activity; and 500 euros for applicants who have been beneficiaries of municipal aid to families.

For these grants, compatible with those of the Generalitat Valenciana, the City Council has reserved 2.6 million euros.

In addition to the municipal aid to the commercial fabric, companies, SMEs and freelancers are added to those aimed at alleviating the effects of Covid-19 among the families of Benidorm; Aid to families to which 1.9 million euros have already been allocated and to which another 500,000 additional euros will be added shortly.
