In the pedestrianization of Tomás Ortuño have already invested around three million euros

'Benidorm fet a mà', theTrade campaign moves towards the historic center

13 February 2019
La campaña de Comercio ‘Benidorm fet a mà’ avanza hacia el centro histórico

The promotion campaign of the local trade 'Benidorm fet a mà', organized jointly by the councils of Commerce and Employment with the collaboration of Marketing and Advertising students of IES Pere Maria Orts i Bosch, has visited this morning the shops Washintown and Stationery Multicopy on La Plama Street, Kukui Gifts on Tomás Ortuño Street and the Muni Jewelry in Paseo de la Carretera.

The students Eugenia Alvado and Cristina Cortés, together with the councilors Ana Pellicer and Mª Jesús Pinto, responsible for the areas of Trade and Employment, have participated in the recording of videos that will promote the different establishments through the channels of the City Council and networks of the institute. On this occasion, in addition, the councillor of Obras, José Ramón González de Zárate, who, on the subject of the recording made in Tomás Ortuño and coinciding with the opening to Carrasco street traffic, announced new improvements in the center of the city.

So far in the legislature it has been invested in the pedestrianization of Tomás Ortuño "around three million euros," said González de Zárate. The councilor has specified that "if the urban scene is improved, accessibility and sustainability, in the end it also improves trade". In this sense, since the beginning of the reform of Calle Tomás Ortuño "more than 18 new opening licenses have been processed" from commercial establishments.

With the work in Tomás Ortuño has got a central street for pedestrians, but also "has been planted," recalled the councilor, trees, changed fiber optic connections, electricity and renewed pipelines for drinking water and sewage. The Municipal Manager of Works and Urban Scene, has also announced that work has begun on the third phase of Tomás Ortuño Street, at the height of the health center. When the work is completed, the road will have a parking area in the upper zone and another in the lower zone.

The work is progressing "but we are not going to stop acting in the center", González de Zárate has meant. New projects are being prepared for the immediate future. As a sample, the councilor has announced that the signage will be changed in the center of Benidorm "with a special model for the old town" that will turn the environment "into a nicer and more attractive area" for residents and visitors.
