The mayor participates as a speaker in a training workshop in Colombia before representatives of 16 countries

Benidorm exhibits its model and actions linked to the DTI in an international forum

10 May 2018
Benidorm expone en un foro internacional su modelo y actuaciones vinculadas al DTI

Benidorm is present these days in an international forum on Smart Tourism that is being developed in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) and in which 16 Latin American countries participate. The mayor, Toni Pérez, has participated as a speaker in a training workshop on 'Public services and connected tourists: internal reorganization and technological tools' in which he has exposed, in a monographic panel, the experience of Benidorm and the work and actions that are being made to turn the city into the world's first Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) certified.

In addition to the mayor, the manager of the Visit Benidorm Foundation, Leire Bilbao, has also traveled to Colombia.

Benidorm has taken part in this training day at the proposal of the Secretary of State for the Information Society and the Digital Agenda (SESIAD) and the hand of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

Before a capacity formed by international, national and local managers of Ibero-American countries with competence in the definition, coordination and direction of public policies in the field of Smart Tourism, the mayor has been able to shed the steps taken by Benidorm to achieve its DTI objective.

Pérez has referred to the constitution of the managing entity of the DTI; and has related some of the actions deployed around the axes on which the Tourist Intelligence is based. Thus, in matters of governance, it has alluded to the obtaining of the CAF 500 + Certificate in Treasury and Electronic Administration, or to the design of an Urban Resilience project in coordination with Dinapsis); and to the integral management of water or the preparation of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), in terms of sustainability.

It has also mentioned actions in the field of accessibility and aimed at achieving universal accessibility; to the implantation of its own and free wifi network on the beaches; or to the development of a pilot project of 'beacons'.

After the intervention in the training workshop, and before the interest that has awakened the experience of Benidorm in management of DTI, attendees have asked the delegation of the city a new appearance to delve more into the use of tools.
