The City Council has widened the left sidewalk, renovated the lighting and incorporated trees

Benidorm completes the renovation of Calpe avenue

Benidorm completa la renovació de l'avinguda de Calp...

Benidorm City Council has completed the renovation Calpe street, acting on the section of track that remained to be adapted "to widen the left sidewalk and the installation of trees and the pipes for the implantation of services and telecommunications, as well as the renewal of lighting with LED technology ”, as explained by the mayor, Toni Pérez.

After a visit to the area together with the Councilor for Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, the mayor pointed out that “with this action, which has been carried out within the contract for the Improvement of Road Safety and Accessibility, we have completed the renovation of Calpe street until the link with the future partial plan, El Murtal ”. In addition, "all the horizontal signage has been repainted."

In parallel to this action "the initial section of sidewalks on Denia Avenue has also been improved, to provide them with more space for pedestrian traffic and greater accessibility".

Toni Pérez has pointed out that “during the last legislature we executed the first phase of urbanization of Calpe avenue, with the construction of wide sidewalks of more than 3 meters, the creation of battery parking, the introduction of a bicycle lane and the installation of lighting and services". "It was pending - he has clarified - to act on the left sidewalk in the upward direction to complete the urbanization of this avenue, which is precisely what has been achieved with this action."

The mayor recalled that in addition to this work on Calpe avenue, and through the same contract, the City Council has acted in other parts of the La Cala neighborhood. Specifically, the section that runs from Plaza Encarnación ‘La Corrila’ to the access to Tossal de La Cala has been asphalted, also renovating the lighting. Likewise, Cornellana, Genaro Navarro streets and a small section of Noreña, and the passage between Langreo and Villajoyosa streets have been paved.

All these actions “follow the strategy of constant renovation and updating of the urban scene in Benidorm, which we always carry out with a view to achieving universal accessibility and in accordance with criteria such as energy efficiency, making the city a friendlier and more sustainable space. ”.
