Mobility installs signals with LED lighting to reinforce security in pedestrian crossings with a lot of traffic

Movilidad instala señales con iluminación LED para reforzar la seguridad en pasos de peatones con mucho tránsito

Benidorm City Council is installing traffic signs with LED lighting to "reinforce the safety of pedestrians at sensitive points such as school environments, pedestrian zones and municipal parks". The councilman of Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, explained that "this signaling is being located in those points of the city where there is an important transit of vehicles and pedestrians and we consider important to reinforce the existing horizontal signage with another one of vertical type that tells drivers the proximity of a zebra crossing ".

De Zárate indicated that "with the installation of these signs we continue to improve road safety in our streets, in this case adopting new measures aimed at avoiding abuses in the most problematic pedestrian crossings".

The councillor specified that "this signage works with solar energy, thus deepening sustainable mobility with devices that, in addition, do not generate an additional expense to the municipal coffers by not having to connect to the public lighting network."

These signals have a frequency of intermittent lighting in red, which "is especially useful at night, although it is also noticeable during the day".

These devices are going to be implemented in:  Atmirall Bernat de Sarriá Avenue; Malta Street next to Serra Gelada school-; at the zebra crossings on Severo Ochoa that give access to the educational centers of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores and Lope de Vega; in Municipi and Bélgica avenues, which make up the school zone of Els Tolls and Puig Campana schools and Les Fontanelles municipal children's school; in Ruzafa Street with Escuela to regulate the entrance to Leonor Canalejas school; in the roundabout of Juan Pablo II located next to El Murtal and La Cala school; and in the avenues Ricardo Bayona and Nicaragua to reinforce security in the transits to Miguel Hernández and Ausiàs March schools. They are also going to place this type of signs on Emilio Ortuño avenue at the height of the bridge, and at the intersection of l'Aigüera and La Rioja street.

In total they have acquired about thirty signals with LED lighting, which has involved an investment of 48,380.64 euros.
