Among the expenses that can be financed are those derived from the adaptation of the classrooms to the health regulations by Covid-19

Culture announces grants for music schools and students for which 33,000 euros are reserved

08 March 2021
Cultura convoca les ajudes per a les escoles de música i educands, per a les quals es reserven 33.000 euros...

The Department of Culture, in collaboration with the Education department, has announced a new edition of municipal grants for music schools and students. The councillor of Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, explained that “this year, when launching these subsidies, attention has been paid to the effort made by the city's musical entities to adapt their classrooms to the health regulations by the Covid- 19 and thus guarantee the safety of the students, so the amount of this subsidy may also be used for the expenses derived from this adaptation of spaces ”.

Pérez has pointed out that "33,000 euros have been reserved for this call for these grants, providing for a maximum subsidy per musical entity of 11,000 euros, as established in the bases approved today by the Local Government Board."

In addition to paying for the expenses for the adaptation of the classrooms to the new health regulations, the amount granted may be used to finance the school itself, the acquisition and repair of computer instruments and equipment or for trips related to the musical activity.

As in previous calls, "these grants are aimed at the musical entities of Benidorm with a music school and educating", and "the amount awarded to each one will depend on objective criteria such as the number of student students, the staff of the own band and the annual calculation of expenses related to the school ”.

Pérez has stressed that “the musical societies of Benidorm carry out an important informative work on musical culture by participating in the social, cultural, festive and institutional events that are held throughout the year in the city, and also activities of their own ”.

"But in addition," he added, these entities also carry out a broad educational action by training new generations of musicians in their schools and it is precisely to this pedagogical work to which the City Council contributes since 2016 through these grants, which last year was close to 31,000 euros ”.

According to data provided by the Councilor for Culture, "between the three musical societies of Benidorm there are a total of more than 400 student students, who are trained to be musicians in our bands, many of whom go to the Municipal Conservatory of Music 'José Pérez Barceló ', being a very important asset in the culture of the municipality ”.
