Boca del Calvari hosts the exhibition of the costume designer Clara Bilbao, winner of three Goyas

30 March 2019
El Boca del Calvari acoge la exposición de la figurinista Clara Bilbao, ganadora de tres Goyas

The exhibition 'The shadow of the law. Cinematographic wardrobe ', has opened its doors in the Museum' Boca del Calvari 'of Benidorm exhibiting part of the work of the costume designer Clara Bilbao designed for the film of the same name. Clara Bilbao won the Goya Award for best costumes from the Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences of Spain in 2019 for this work and in 2012 and 2016, for 'Nobody Wants the Night' (Isabel Coixet) and 'Blackthron' (Mateo Gil) ), respectively. This is the first of the activities scheduled by the Department of Culture on the occasion of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival.

With a 'Boca del Calvari' practically full, the exhibition opened its doors at a ceremony in which the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, participated; the councilor of Culture, Ana Pellicer; the director of the festival, Beatriz Hernández; and the curator of the exhibition, Abigail Aguirre. Attendees were able to enjoy a collection that brings together 27 sets of costumes made by Bilbao, which reflect the moment set in the film, the Barcelona of the early twenties, marked by the continuous street clashes between gunmen, anarchist and police. The costumes are presented in three blocks: police officers, on the ground floor of the museum; trade union and anarchist workers, on the right; and the world of the Music Hall show, also in the lower area.

The curator of the exhibition, Abigail Aguirre, combines her work as a designer with teaching. She teaches pattern design and accessories at various universities, has also organized a number of fashion exhibitions and has exhibited her paintings in numerous galleries throughout Europe. Aguirre has designed for 25 years for international firms such as Loewe, Jesús del Pozo, Roberto Verino, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Bric's Italia, Gucci, Moschino, Borbonese or Sissi Rossi.

The exhibition, which is the second time you visit a museum, after passing through Madrid, can be seen in Benidorm until May 5. Next to the locker room, visitors are greeted by the statuette of the Aragonese painter who gives his name to the film award that welcomes them when arriving at 'Boca del Calvari'.
