Benidorm updates the image and infrastructure of the busiest section in Severo Ochoa

Benidorm actualitza la imatge i infraestructures del tram més transitat de Severo Ochoa...

Benidorm City Council is going to update the image and infrastructures of the section with the greatest pedestrian traffic of Severo Ochoa avenue, the one that runs between Zamora and Toledo streets; This section is also home to a large number of tourist, commercial and hospitality establishments. The mayor, Toni Pérez, together with the Councilor for Works, José Ramón González de Zárate, visited the area included in the action today to discuss the main details of the project with the municipal technicians and the companies that will be in charge of the jobs.

In this regard, Toni Pérez explained that "Severo Ochoa is going to act with two projects, which will run in parallel and fully coordinated, in order to minimize the inconvenience to neighbors, users and companies in the environment."

The first of the projects "focuses on the replacement and improvement of the drinking water and sewerage network, and its execution is carried out by the water concessionaire, Hidraqua, under the contract."

The second project "is included in the contract for Maintenance and repair of sidewalks, with which we are working in different parts of the city, and with which the pavement of the sidewalks of the entire section will be renewed, giving continuity to the aesthetics implemented in Ametlla del Mar, as well as improving mobility with the creation of a roundabout at the intersection of Severo Ochoa and Otto de Habsburgo avenues, thus giving more fluidity to road traffic in the area ”. In addition, the lighting and furniture will be renewed.

Toni Pérez has indicated that “we continue to take advantage of the situation of low tourist activity and lower traffic density of residents to improve the urban scene and public services in parts of the city where at other times of the year and with a normalized situation It would not be possible to do it with so little affection ”.

The mayor has advanced that "we hope that the works that have started today will be completed in a maximum period of three months, coinciding with the date scheduled for the reactivation of international tourism, an important market niche for establishments in this area." "We want them to find an even more friendly and modern city on their return to Benidorm than the one they left when the pandemic began a year ago," he added.
