Benidorm shows its rejection of the latest sexist crime in Manresa

16 April 2021
Benidorm mostra la seua repulsa davant l'últim crim masclista a Manresa...

Benidorm Municipal Corporation, headed by the acting mayor, Ana Pellicer, and the councillor of Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, has shown today its rejection of the last case of gender violence registered last Wednesday in Manresa (Barcelona). Municipal workers have also joined the minute of silence held at the gates of the City Hall.

According to the information provided by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, the victim, a 34-year-old woman and mother of two minors, was allegedly murdered at her home by her ex-partner. Hours after the crime, the man was arrested by the police. This death brings to six the number of fatalities of sexist violence so far this year in Spain, and the first in Catalonia. Since there are records, in 2003, 1,084 women have been murdered by their partners or former partners.

The Department of Equality reminds women who are in a situation of danger that the City Council has specialized personnel to personally attend to each case and insists on the usefulness of the number against gender violence, 016, which leaves no trace in the phone bill (although it is recommended to delete it after using the phone's registration), and that it is available in 53 languages, 365 days a year.
