The coordinator of the Management Body explains in a presentation the experience and work that is being done in the field of smart tourism

Benidorm expone su tránsito hacia el DTI en el IV Congreso de Ciudades Inteligentes

Benidorm has been present at the IV Congress of Smart Cities that during the days of today and tomorrow is held in Espacio La Nave in Madrid organized by Tecma Red Group and in which the city has exposed its transit towards the Smart Tourist Destination ( DTI). In fact, Benidorm has been one of the protagonists of the afternoon lectures block.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, has moved to the capital; and the coordinator of the Ente Gestor DTI of the City Council, Celia Romero, who has been in charge of explaining the experience and work that Benidorm is doing to become the first certified intelligent tourist destination in the world.

The presentation 'The tourist intelligence for the management of an intelligent tourist destination: the case of Benidorm' has been one of the chosen for the Congress among the more than 155 proposals presented.

During his speech, Romero explained how technology has established a system that allows the destination to collect information to better understand the tourist, their tastes, behaviors and needs to, from that base, make more effective decisions and trace better targeted promotion strategies.

The coordinator of the Ente Gestor recalled that Benidorm has been one of the four cities in which the UNE 178501 standard for the Management of Intelligent Tourist Destinations has been tested, and that Visit Benidorm was the first public-private foundation at the national level to provide of a certified tourist intelligence system.

The application of this tourist intelligence system has led to successfully raise, for example, the date change of the most important test of 'running' that is held in the city, the Half Marathon. In the course of the exhibition before about 500 congressmen, has reiterated innovation, technology, sustainability and accessibility are the axes on which the transit of Benidorm to the DTI pivots, recalling some of the technological projects that already have been implemented in the city as the network of 'beacons' rigged to the Visit Benidorm app or the own network of free wifi on the beaches.
