'Benidorm expone', takes the streets to bring the photograph to neighbors and tourists

13 July 2018
El ‘Benidorm expone’, toma las calles para acercar la fotografía a vecinos y turistas

Fifty large-format photographs exhibited in public spaces, make up the photographic exhibition 'Benidorm exposes' that gathers, under the title' The war of the bikini. Photography and tourism ', a new artistic proposal of the Department of Culture and whose inaugural tour has taken place this morning.

The mayor, Toni Pérez and the councilor for Culture, Ana Pellicer, along with members of the corporation; the curator of the exhibition, Alicia Lamarca; and some of the participating artists have wandered around the enclaves where the works will be exhibited from today until August 31.

Ana Pellicer indicated that it is a sample "of photographs of great quality and originality linked to tourism" that has been launched after the "success of the first edition of the photo festival last year accompanied by Alicia Lamarca " The councilor specified that the photographs on display are creations by Valiente Verde, María Moldes, Cayetano Navarro, Rafa Arjonés, Iván Carbonell and Jaume Fuster. To whom we must add the local photographer Simeón Nogueroles, "whose work," said Pellicer, "is a documental proof of the development of a whole era. Simeon knew how to portray the people and life of Benidorm and his testimony coincides in time with the beginning of tourism in our city. " The councilman of Culture announced that soon, we can see their images in Boca del Calvari Museum.

'Benidorm expone' can be enjoyed in "very busy spaces and well known to all of us, in the heart of Benidorm", said Pellicer: gardens of the City Council, Espai d'Art Urbà 'Carrascos', El Puente, Plaza de la Hispanidad , Dr. Pérez Llorca, El Torrejó, and Paseo de la Carretera, covering the facade of Museu 'Boca del Calvari'.

For its part, the curator of the exhibition thanked "the commitment of the Department of Culture and the City Council for street art," which will allow neighbors and tourists "to know Benidorm from another point of view." Lamarca underlined that the fifty or so large panels that make up the exhibition "bring art closer to people in a very natural way while walking, and allows new artists to be known. "

'The bikini war. Photography and tourism 'has been organized by the Department of Culture of Benidorm City Council with the collaboration of Visit Benidorm Foundation, Agència Valenciana de Turisme, Alameda Hotel, Code Studio, Jas Arquitectura, Don César and La Favorita.
