For two weeks, the avenue between Europa and Plaza de la Hispanidad is closed to traffic, although the fords located between Europa and Orts Llorca will be allowed to pass

Benidorm begins on Monday the installation of a new section of luminaires on the Mediterráneo Avenue

Benidorm makes progress in the installation of the new central lights on Avenida del Mediterráneo. Starting next Monday, January 25, the works will extend to the section of the avenue between Doctor Orts Llorca and Plaza de la Hispanidad, "thus completing the installation of these suspended luminaires on the road area of the entire remodeled section of the avenue ”, as pointed out by the coincillor of Works and Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate.

Due to “the complexity of the work and the machinery that must be used, it is essential to cut off this section of the avenue to traffic as we have done these weeks with the immediately previous section, the one that runs between Europa and Doctor Orts Llorca, and that it countinues". In this way, “for a little less than two weeks, it will not be possible to drive along Avenida del Mediterráneo between Europe and the Plaza de la Hispanidad. However, the cut from Europe to Doctor Orts Llorca will be permeable, since the same Doctor Orts Llorca avenue will allow access to vehicles with fords in the area ”. Traffic is scheduled to resume on Saturday, February 6.

De Zárate explained that "during these two weeks, we are going to reorder the traffic and allow the circulation of vehicles through the pedestrian section of Gerona Street." The councilor stressed that "now is the time to carry out this action, taking advantage of the absence of terraces in the pedestrian section of Gerona street as a result of the forced closure of the hotel industry decreed by the Generalitat Valenciana, thus not harming businesses and thus facilitating a more fluid traffic for the duration of the cut in the Mediterranean ".

In this way, the vehicles that circulate along Europa avenue in the direction of the downtown area must access by Gerona street - where the traffic is reversed - until reaching Esperanto.
