Benidorm begins the asphalting of Hispanidad square and Puente street

17 July 2019
Benidorm inicia el asfaltado de la Plaza de la Hispanidad y calle Puente

Yesterday began the asphalt performances in La Hispanidad square, included in the remodeling project of Mediterráneo avenue, through a cover of agglomerate specially designed for walking because it will be, from now on, a pedestrian zone, as informed the Councilor of Works, José Ramón González de Zárate. For this purpose, special machinery has been used, which is not usual for road asphalting operations, which operates in zones which are used by road and pedestrian traffic.

The objective is to consolidate the definitive design as soon as possible and open La Hispanidad  square to pedestrians, pointing out, with the gradation of colors marked by this asphalt, the transition to an urban plaza that can be walked on.

For its part, in the programming of the action, today has begun the operation on Puente street clearly signaling with the asphalt zoning of rolling and pedestrians.

The set highlights the strong implementation of pedestrian areas and indicate those for bicycles and other vehicles that with this gradation of shades will have perfect visualization of each domain.

De Zárate has pointed out that "once the agglomerate works are completed, the painting and lighting works will be left, as well as the planting of vegetation", which is advisable to carry out after the summer, once the high temperatures have passed.

The councillor has indicated that once these tasks are completed, "the confluence of La Hispanidad square and Puente street will be progressively opened, both to vehicular traffic, but also to pedestrians and bicycles, which already pass through operational sections."
