This afternoon, the name of the winner of the thirty-second edition of New Creators Contest in the painting category, organized by the Youth Council of Benidorm City Council, was revealed, the young Catalan artist Albert Giménez.

Giménez, a native of Caldes de Malavella, in the Girona region of La Selva, is the second time that he has participated in the New Creators contest, from which he received an honorable mention in last year's edition. The artist has studied design, illustration and painting at Escola d ’Art d’ Olot and completed his training in Italy. The creator's work has been awarded on different occasions, among others at ‘Salvador Soria’ Painting Contest in Benissa in 2018.

This year, due to the extraordinary situation caused by the health crisis, the number of participants has been reduced and the prize in the sculpture category has been deserted, as well as the one dedicated to the artist under eighteen years of age.

The Councilor for Youth, Jaime Jesús Pérez, have given Giménez the check for one thousand euros with which the City Council awards the winning artists. In return, the winning work is from today the heritage of the city. The councillor has announced that his Council is already working on the thirty-third edition of New Creators contest that he hopes "will be the recovery after the pandemic" and will be an incentive "for all the creative talent" of young artists in Spain .
