Benidorm subsidizes 19,300 euros to music schools and students

17 October 2016
Benidorm subvenciona con 19.300 euros a las escuelas de música y educandos

The grant received depends on the number of students and staff of the band

Benidorm City Council has funded a total of 19,300 euros to the three musical societies of the city within the campaign 'Escuela de Música y educandos 2016'. The Governing Board has awarded these grants, provisionally, after an Assessment Committee studied the proposals that each of the bands had submitted to this call, for which 30,000 euros were reserved. The councilor of Culture, Ana Pellicer, recalled that the purpose of these grants is to "recognize the specific weight of the musical societies of the city and decisively support cultural and educational activities". Hence, these grants are attributed to the budget of grants of the department of Education. Pellicer explained that "the maximum amount was 10,000 euros per entity", an amount that has only reached one of the bands, The Musical Union of Benidorm. The grant that the other two bands will receive, Societat Musical L'Illa with 3 300 euros and Societat Musical Nova, 6000 euros, "have been set based on the score they have achieved in their proposals" in relation to the bases of the call, and in which we evaluated the template of the band, the number of learners and the annual total expenditure in 2015 of the school. The responsible for Culture clarified that the grant is provisional, from now there are "10 days in which each of the bands can submit the arguments that they consider appropriate". Finally, she stressed that with these subsidies "we have fulfilled our commitment to restore the policy of agreements and cooperation with associations and cultural organizations in the city, and doing so according to objective criteria, free competition and under the same conditions."
