Benidorm rejects with a minute of silence the murder of a British woman in El Campello

20 February 2017
Benidorm rechaza con un minuto de silencio el asesinato de una mujer británica en El Campello

With this, there are 11 victims of gender violence so far this year.

This morning a minute of silence has been kept at the main door of the City Hall to remember and condemn the sexist crime occurred on Sunday in El Campello. The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Equality councilor, Angela Llorca, have spearheaded the protest that has counted with the participation of other members of the municipal corporation, officials and citizens.

A 79-year-old British woman was assaulted in a nursing home at around 9 am on Sunday by her 86-year-old husband of the same nationality, with a bladed weapon causing her death. The aggressor, later, was self-injurious superficially and at the moment is guarded by the Civil Guard.

With this, there are already 11 victims so far this year due to gender violence in our country. From the department of Equality has once again insisted on the need to fight against this social scourge and on the usefulness of the telephone number 016 of attention to the victims of macho violence that leaves no trace in the telephone bill.
