Unos 2.000 corredores de más de 30 nacionalidades participarán en la media maratón nocturna

When there are only 17 days left for the March 3 contest of BenidormHalf, the Half Marathon and the 10K of Benidorm, the Sports Department and the organization take stock of a test that, for the first time will run that month "taking advantage of the local weather and looking to promote sports tourism ", as pointed out by the Councilor for Sports, Arturo Cabrillo. The mayor has announced that the departure will take place after sunset, at night and that the official presentation will be on February 28, in the municipal building of El Torrejó.

On the part of the organization, they have accompanied Cabrillo Fernando Brotons and Alfonso García who have made the previous analysis of the test. In this sense, Brotons has announced that there are already 1,600 registered runners and that "the final figure" will be around 2,000. With the data today, it has confirmed that "30 nationalities" and "runners" will be represented "from the 17 autonomous communities and 35 Spanish provinces". The organizers calculate that 50% of registered will be national and the other 50%, foreigners. The circuit has been approved by the Athletics Federation and the event has been framed in the official competition calendar.

Among the novelties of BenidormHalf and parallel to the sporting event, there will be entertainment for the youngest "with zumba and batucada" and "for the first time a tapas marathon", after the agreement reached with an important group of restoration of the city, has underlined Brotons ,.

For his part, Alfonso García has detailed how the strategic communication plan of the test has been developed with "excellent results". In this sense, the official web portal (www.benidormhalf.com) has received more than 70,000 visits, "with peaks in days of up to 1,500 people". García has highlighted the implementation of specific campaigns aimed at the British and Portuguese public in which "328,000 people have been reached nationally, 56,000 in the United Kingdom and 22,000 in Portugal."

Martín Fiz and Ángel Nieto Foundation

Among the registered athletes, Garcia has meant the presence of the world champion Martin Fiz in Goteborg 95, as prior to his participation in the London Marathon, which he hopes to win to complete his track record with the victory in the Six Majors (the six most important marathons in the world: Boston, Berlin, Chicago, New York, Tokyo and the British capital). Alfonso García has also announced a collaboration agreement with the newly created Angel Nieto Foundation to help victims of motorcycle accidents that will have their public presentation at Benidormhalf.
